Spider-Man: Brand New Day… Except I Forgot to Watch It

Spider-Man’s newest outing in the MCU is here, released at the end of July or early August. A summer action blockbuster, the film helps set up the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, which is due to be released in December 2026. It is the fourth movie with Tom Holland in the suit, marking the first time we get to see Tom’s Spider-Man entirely on his own fighting crime.

Nobody knows who Peter Parker is after Doctor Strange erased everyone’s memory of him. Four years later, Peter is completely on his own as an anonymous crime fighter under the name Spider-Man. He is forced to investigate a powerful new threat while his own powers are undergoing a surprising and dangerous evolution. It is a full transition from youth to adulthood as he tries to find his way and takes on being Spider-Man full-time.

The title comes from the comic book arc Brand New Day, which reset his status quo in a similar fashion, though I don’t know much about that original story myself.

That was all we knew when I started writing this back in May. So I was looking forward to reviewing Brand New Day, but that won’t be in this post today because A) I forgot to go watch it, and B) I forgot to write the review.

What I can tell you is Spider-Man is already a success, hitting that magic billion-dollar box office number so few films reach. Tom Holland is a busy man these days, so don’t expect any more Spider-Man movies until 2028 or 2029.
