Battlefield One Open Beta Feedback

Battlefield One Open Beta Feedback

Medic Class

Problem –  Players must alert each other when they want to be revived.

Solution –  Constant revive player icon telling players how long of the timer is left.

Problem – Quick respawn button

Solution – Remove quick respawn button instead add want to be revived icon and don’t want to be revived.

Above are the main problems I found with the class so far can be hard/impossible get single revive.

Conquest scoring system

Problem – No penalty for death in conquest

Solution – Add death bleed to the score timer, reduced score increase or add score to the other team

Conquest time limit

Problem:  Games are too short

Solution:  Increase the timer

Squads

Problem: Players forced to change squads not matched into open squads.

Solution:  Make players join into open squads

Progression system

Problem:  Linear progression system no outright easy to counters to certain things

Solution:  Give players free access to certain counters don’t level gate it.

Battlefield 1 First Impressions

Battlefield 1 First Impressions

Disclaimer:  Personal opinion on the game, played bad company 2 and past two main titles.

Battlefield one open beta is here, feels very much like Battlefield.  DICE have learn lessons from the previous titles.  Best way to describe the game feels like old family recipe.  DICE have gone over recipe fixing any faults from past titles.  Strip away unnecessary parts reviewed what goes into the recipe. Previous titles suffered from bloat unnecessary ideas floating around.   Studio has refined overall recipe taking long look at the core.   Process behind production feels refined with only best ingredients included.  Many ways Battlefield one feels like team fixing mistakes going with safe sequel.   Design structure behind game feels planned.  Saying that title carries on series does best provides you everything you want.  Safe sequel title which returns game back to quality expected.  Various minor changes which only dedicated players would spot.

Whatever happened good to see DICE still know how to make great games.   Company suffered couple years back producing okay games on short timelines.  Something went wrong lost of focus when came to EA biggest studio.  Team behind Battlefield one feels rested full of creative life. Marketing material has put focus on WW1 theme, feels closer to WW2.  Freedom to explore the theme providing gamers with new experience.   Change in theme however does not change the gameplay.  Fans of modern shooters should enjoy this title.  Possible even non Battlefield fans many love this title.

First impressions

Good – Triple AAA game million dollar production values.

  • Art –  Styled to suit the theme, team have created world which fits together.  Graphics are what you would expect.  Realism overtones when comes to graphic design.
  • Sound – DICE known for great sound design,  weapons sound good.  Everything sounds great, talented sound artists have crafted a masterpiece.
  • Weapons – Feel unique each one has it own role.

Bad

  • Worries about amount content on the disc.

Ugly

  • Melee combat – Not fan current melee system being able instant kill over 50 health.

In conclusion

Nothing short of positive impressions hope launch day is smooth.  Enjoyed my time with the title,  DICE have a success.

Battlefield 1 Weapon Design

Game design is incredibly important, designers shape the rules which players must follow.  Been following the development of battlefield 1.   Gunplay of pervious modern titles had some serious flaws. Allowing certain weapons to be used in every role.  Micro bursting M16 was the best weapon in battlefield 3. Battlefield 4 suffered from the AEK being the best weapon. DICE LA did massive patch which fixed some of the problem. Symthic forum members have been rather outspoken and come up with various ways to fix this problem.  DICE designed a system which allowed certain weapons to be overpowered by accident.  Months ago news appeared that various Symthic forum members have been working with DICE on weapon balance for battlefield 1.  Based on player feedback so far appears DICE have made some serious changes to weapon design.  Mainly players have commented how weapons feel different compared to previous titles.

Not played battlefield 1 yet so having to review player feedback.  Average gamer does not want to understand gameplay mechanics.  Following video from MarbleDuck explains differences between the two systems.

Battlefield 1

After watching this video hope DICE does not change the system.   Rewatching other players gameplay appears they yet to notice what DICE has done.  Quite like what DICE have done so far hope they make further changes to the core game.  Changing any core complaints people may have.  However based on what player feedback so far doubt further radical changes are coming.  Could be wrong….
