Poem: Still here
Poem: Still here
As the sun fades, memory of sunshine remains
Summer is almost over yet still blesses us
Bit more time before things go dark
Pride came and went, now dog days remaining
As rights came, others remain without
Yet work is not over, the rainbow shines
Hidden in history plain sight, you see it only briefly
We’re here and seen once a year
Brothers and sisters need us to stand with them
We should not fall into a false sense of security
It should not be taken for granted how far we have come
As leaves fall memory of summer remains
Embrace the gift, fountain of humanity
Don’t forget pride you had
May not feel like yourself, transition and change is good
May look in mirror and want to be something else
As winter is coming let that light bring you warmth
Take your time
Bloom into the flower that you want to be
Not what society thought you should be
